Baroque meets contemporary

Contrary to what some may think, the capital of Piedmont is not just an industrial centre of Fiat factories. If you need to see for yourself, why not let OUIBUS take you there? You’ll discover a fascinating city in which a certain melancholy combines with the stylish and delectable northern Italian way of life, between the banks of the river Pô and the snowy peaks of the Alps. Experience this refined atmosphere by enjoying a bicerin (a layered drink with hot chocolate, coffee and whole milk) in one of the historic 19th century cafes in the city centre. A prestigious city that was capital of the Duchy of Savoy for over two centuries, Turin has retained its rectilinear layout, an echo of Versailles. Wander along the grand, straight boulevards lined with elegant arcades to keep you sheltered from the sun or the rain. In fact the city boasts an amazing 24 kilometres of arcades. Explore Piazza Castello or Piazza San Carlo, symmetrical squares offering amazing views between baroque architectural masterpieces.

After the Fiat factories closed the Mirafiori district became the automobile museum. The industrial wastelands were transformed into contemporary art centres, artists’ studios, concert venues and so on. The Arte Povera movement was born in Turin, in the 60s. Ambitious and creative, Turin is ever at the forefront of the current art scene. The city also has strong connections with the Italian cinema industry. It’s home to a Museum of Cinema, which is worth a detour for the amazing architecture as well as for the fascinating collections it houses.
