Reims, the champagne town
Discover the sparkling city of Reims with OUIBUS!
Reims has been through a lot over the years. In ancient times it was considered the Roman capital of the north. It was later known as the “city of coronations” for its role in the history of France’s kings. Tragically, around 80 % of the town was destroyed during the First World War. This explains the considerable number of Art Deco style buildings that you will see in the city centre as you explore it on foot.
But Reims is certainly not moping over its past. It’s stuffed with little luxury boutiques and elegant bars where you can drink the town’s most famous export: champagne. A visit to the cathedral is a must, followed by a cultural moment at the Museum of Fine Arts to admire the fine collection of Impressionist works housed here. Next, get some fresh air with a boat trip on the Marne; this is the perfect opportunity to see more of the surrounding area. In the evening, head to the Comédie de Reims or the Manège de Reims to see a fun, colourful show.
With rose biscuits, mustard, plenty of local dishes to try and of course, all the champagne you could possibly want, life is good (and tasty) in Reims. And don’t forget to bring some treats back to your loved ones when you head home from Reims by OUIBUS!
