Bruges, a medieval city
Choose OUIBUS for your trip to Bruges. This medieval Flemish city is like something out of a fairy tale. Cobbled streets and tranquil canals crisscross the city. Once you’ve arrived, you’ll find it impossible to get lost: all roads lead to the Market. This picturesque market square in the city centre is lined with colourful houses and watched over by a towering belfry.
Throw yourself into the city’s history, with a visit to the St John’s House Mill, built in 1770, and the Gothic cathedral of St Salvator. This 12th century building has three naves. If you’re feeling strong, climb the 366 steps to the city’s famous belfry, it’s over 80 metres high! Most of the city is pedestrian-only, making it an ideal city for leisurely strolls, in the city centre or beside the Minnewater, a name which means the “lake of love”.
Culture vultures will make a beeline for the Groeningemuseum, known for its collection of Flemish primitive paintings. But if you’d rather see a more unusual museum, head for either the Museum of Chips or the Museum of Chocolate – both are local specialities!
After such a busy day, it’s time to stop at an authentic little bar in Bruges and taste some of that other great Belgian speciality – beer.
OUIBUS is the way to discover Belgium, with buses to Bruges, Brussels and Antwerp. And with free Wi-Fi available on board throughout the duration of your journey, you’ll even be able to brush up on your Dutch on the way there… or plan your next trip to another destination!
